Kenan Roger Topher Rockmore (Kenan Thompson) is one of the two main characters in the television show "Kenan & Kel". He is Kel's best friend and often the mastermind behind the trouble created by the pair throughout each episode. Like Kel, Kenan is aged 15-18 years old throughout the series.
Kenan is highly intelligent, although he rarely turns in his school assignments on time, focusing instead on crafting various "get-rich-quick" schemes. While Kenan's plans often land him and Kel in some sort of trouble, he never seems to learn from this pattern.
Although he doesn't always show it, Kenan has much love for his family and friends, including Kel. A frequent catchphrase of throughout the series includes Kenan often uttering a frustrated "WHHYY?!" when Kel screws something up. Kenan also impulsively squeals whenever trouble is abound. Kenan is also shown as very independent, and even has an after-school job at a local grocery store called Rigby's.
Despite being his job, Kenan rarely does anything resembling work at Rigby's. At the end of every episode, Kenan frightens Kel by getting an idea for yet another scheme, naming several random objects (usually three) for Kel to collect and a random location for Kel to meet him. In the final episode of the series "Tales From The Clip", Kel pulls back the curtain at the end of the show to reveal that he has retrieved every single object Kenan asked for throughout the entire series.
Kenan's "WHYYYY?!?" catchphrase has often been used by other characters, as well as other Schneider shows, as well as the movie "Good Burger", and was also used as the soundbite for the "Tollin-Robbins Productions" logo.
